Certain Legacy games such as System Shock 2 and Icewind Dale II can crash durring start up, right before the main menu, the system will crash with an error checking the details might show you the files involved, usually having to do with the game executables and umxsbxw.dll.
Not sure what this dll does, I will contact CA and see what they say or try the forums.
