Laptop Battery Failures with Windows 7

New reports are coming out about a possible flaw in Windows 7 installed on laptops and notebooks. First reported by users on Microsoft TechNet, users are claiming that battery life has dropped to bad or almost unusable after upgrading from WindowsXP/Vista to Windows 7. Users are getting error messages from Windows 7: "Consider replacing your battery. There is a problem with your battery, so your computer might shut down suddenly." The warning is usually sent from the BIOS part of the system. The operating system is the cause and Microsoft is currently looking into the issue, but no official answer as of yet. There is a possibility that Windows 7 is prematurely draining batteries. It might be a good idea to hold of on an upgrade if you were planning on one until a fix has been addressed.

Update: Looks like Microsoft did some research on this and came back with a response, its not Windows 7 that is causing the problem. Windows 7 is reporting the problem correctly, The issue is that most of these laptop users that have reported problems have not been receiving correct warnings that their battery is failing and needs to be replaced.
