Wordpress Administration Basics

If you want to make changes or add new content to your site, follow these instructions.

1. Logon to your site by visiting http://www.mydomain.com/wp-admin (replace mydomain.com with your site name)
(Note: sometimes wordpress installations get installed into a wordpress directory, if thats the case use this url: http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/wp-admin)

2. Create a bookmark to this page so you can naviate back to it eaiser next time.

Logon to your site.

Below is a screenshot of the Dashboard for Wordpress, you can handel making all the changes to your website from this administration panel. 1: By clicking on either the post or page links on the left panel. 2: Sometimes though its much eaiser to edit content directly from your site so for now visit your website by click on your website url located at the top left and we will come back to the Dashboard later.

Here is a demo site with demo content. Most Wordpress sites have a home page that contain posts that the website owner can create on the home page, or specific pages that are seperate pages of content which changes the whole look of the page itself. If you need to make a change to any of these posts or pages just click on the Edit link usually located on the top or bottom of each piece of content.

Click on the edit link takes you to the Dashboard area where you can make edits to the page itself.

Once you have made your changes click on either the Preview button to see your changes before you save them or the Publish button which Saves the changes and Submits the changes to the site so everyone can see.

Somtimes you need to make alot of edits to multipule pages or posts or you just need create a new page. If thats the case its better that you do it directley from the Dashboard itself instead of naviating to the page on your website. Go back to your site using the bookmark you created which will take you back to the dashboard of wordpress. If you want to edit posts on the home page, click on the posts link, or if you want to edit specific pages, click on the pages link. You can add a new post or page by click on the "Add New" Button at the top of the page. If you need to edit a specific post por page mouse over the page title and click edit.

Each new page you add (not post) creates a seperate tab on your website with the tile you specify.

Once you have edit or created a new page dont forget to Preview it (To see what it looks like) or Publish it so the world can see it.
